Christy Shannon, President and owner of WorkSource Staffing, serves as a wonderful example to her entire staff. She emulates professionalism and constantly emphasizes to each staff member the importance of truly caring about their customers and employees. Previously, Christy owned and operated a manufacturing business with her husband, Robbie. They had as many as 100 employees working for them. Christy served as V.P., managing the HR, front office, accounting and engineering departments. She was also responsible for all hiring and accounting functions. Additionally, she was the decision maker and contact for all staffing vendors. This role definitely prepared her to transition into the staffing industry with a great deal of knowledge. Through her experience, she knows what's important to companies, can see critical issues, and works to resolve them as quickly as possible. At WorkSource Christy never has a dull day. That is one of the challenges she enjoys. She currently takes care of all accounting and Workers Compensation, cash management and assists in acquiring high volume/visible accounts. Her true zeal is her commitment to each and every employee, however, whether temporary or internal. She embraces ongoing staff training, education, smart workflow distribution, and ensuring staff are sincerely content with their jobs. She places the highest priority on her belief that all employees should be treated with the utmost dignity and respect. Her goal for the entire staff is to live by WorkSource's message, "We care." Christy attended Des Moines Area Community College, majoring in Business.
Missy Flippin, a Certified Staffing Professional, is one of the original founders of WorkSource. She has over 9 years experience in the staffing industry and over 10 years of sales & marketing experience. Prior to joining WorkSource, Missy was responsible for launching an Internship Program for a college in Iowa by marketing the students to area employers and finding them work sites. Missy now works as an Account Manager to 25 of our clerical, industrial and hospitality clients. She also runs WorkSource's Professional Placement & Outplacement Divisions. Additionally, she takes the lead role in our recruiting by attending all local career fairs. She is an active member of the Young Des Moines Lunch Club, The Young Professional Connection, K.E.Y. (Keeping Educated Youth) in Des Moines and takes part in networking functions, volunteering activities, charitable events and seminars. Missy graduated from the University of Northern Iowa with a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration and a minor in Marketing.
Derrick Flippin, a Certified Staffing Professional, serves as WorkSource's Vice President. He oversees the recruiting and placement efforts for WorkSource accounts across all markets. One of the original founders of WorkSource, he has helped develop client relationships and create successful partnerships with companies across the Midwest. Derrick is responsible for spearheading internal business development such as new process implementation & standardization, new hire training, compliance, and resource development. When new accounts come on board he is one of the individuals that will define the recruiting and hiring process, aligning these processes with the core values that have allowed WorkSource to help so many companies add to their bottom line. His greatest passion is providing excellent customer service, as well as providing solutions to difficult client issues. Derrick holds a Bachelors Degree from the University of Northern Iowa in Sociology and Criminology. He is currently pursuing his Masters of Business Administration with an emphasis of Organizational Development at Upper Iowa University. Derrick was runner up in the 2009 Des Moines Fittest Executive competition.
Jessica Swift, a Certified Staffing Professional and one of the original founders of WorkSource, serves as the Account Manager for a major concrete company. With over 5 years of experience in the staffing industry, she began her career answering phones part-time at a staffing firm while attending college. She soon became a Staffing Coordinator, as she had a passion for helping job seekers, as well as customers. Currently she staffs for 2 plants, targeting positions such as general labor, maintenance, QC and other specialized disciplines. Jessica has a keen understanding and is proficient in ensuring good cultural fits between candidate and customer. She views candidates holistically, looking at technical skills as only a piece of the hiring process. She assesses attitude and personality, as well, to determine if there is a good match between the candidate and customer. Clients are pleased with higher retention and productivity rates due to Jessica's consistent, quality driven selection process. Jessica attended Des Moines Area Community College, majoring in psychology and business management.
Nancy Parli comes to WorkSource with eight years of staffing experience. She earned her Bachelor's Degree in Social Work from Rockford College, IL. Her entry into the staffing arena began as an on-site staffing coordinator for a large metals corporation. She was responsible for all facets of recruiting, hiring and providing staffing solutions for 100+ employees. She then moved to an Account Manager position, assisting in growing a small local staffing firm to a reputable, thriving branch. She has since worked as a Branch Manager for a national staffing firm and has gained experience as a Professional Placement Recruiter. She enjoys the challenge of her role as Business Development Manager of our SE and West Des Moines, Iowa Offices. She is a SHRM member, where she sits on the PR committee. She is also active in local Chamber of Commerce events.
Jaime Brecount, a Certified Staffing Professional, serves as Branch Manager in our Southeast Iowa Office located in Fort Madison, IA. Her experience in sales, marketing, and community ties are essential to locating staff talent in the SE Iowa branch. Jaime's first priority is the client and she works hand and hand with them to find the right candidate for their needs. Jaime holds a Bachelor's Degree in Organizational Management from Hannibal La-Grange College in Hannibal, MO. She also serves on many committees with the Lee County Fair Board, volunteers her time to 4-H and FFA children, and is aspiring to participate with local chambers committees such as Young Professionals and Ambassador Club. Jaime is committed and ready to use her local resources to grow the branch in the Fort Madison/Burlington, Iowa markets.
